Let’s Go Pink!

The first school council event was held on January 24th 2012. All the 5th and 6th class girls helped to fundraise through baking pink cakes and buns, making pink crafts and creating a nail bar for pink manicures!

The whole school was invited to wear pink on the day and an amazing €1702.10 was raised for Breast Cancer Awareness.

This is a great achievement for the school council, and all the girls in the school who helped and donated money to this worthy charity.

International Day Report

International Day

International day was a great day. It was on Wednesday the 15th of June. There are lots of kinds of food from different countries around the world. I wore the colours of the Filipino flag: blue, red, white and yellow. Everyone was given a passport and the 6th class girls stamped them for us. I liked the Chinese stand. Mrs. Yang from China made beautiful paper flowers for us and her friend wrote our names in Chinese on lovely Chinese paper.

International Day

International Day was a great success. A huge thanks to all the parents who sent in food from countries all over the world. We tasted and sampled a huge variety of different foods. The children had a fantastic day. Sixth class ran the food & crafts stands and they decorated our sheltered area with colourful flags and posters. They did a brilliant job all day long and helped tidy up after our busy day. Many parents helped out setting up and organizing the stands, guiding the children through the differents stands, clearing and cleaning up afterwards. Their contribution was HUGELY appreciated. Thank you! And thanks also to the whole staff for making the day so enjoyable. Don’t forget to have a look at our photos to see all the fabulous costumes!

Hunting for clues

We have found a clue!

We have found a clue!

Hunting for clues.

We went on a trail outside today hunting for clues! First we had to solve the sums by finding numbers around the yard. Next we had to complete a shape challenge. Then we had to find pieces of the puzzle and fit them together.  Finally we were able to solve the riddle. We had lots of fun and managed to get in just before a rain shower came!

We are also really looking forward to the Eurovision on Saturday night. John and Edward are in Germany performing the song ‘Lipstick’. We sang this song today in school.  Good luck Jedward!!

St. Fintan’s Sutton 5 – v – Hollypark 1

Hollypark Hockey team ended their unbeaten run in the Leinster primary and junior hockey league, losing to an extremely skillful St.Fintan’s team. The division 2 final took place in UCD on Friday 11th March. The match was played through persistent rain and the Hollypark girls played hard throughout. The team were supported by 5th and 6th class girls, teachers and parents. As the final whistle blew Hollypark walked off the pitch with smiles on their faces, thanks to the huge cheers they received from supporters. Refreshments after the final were provided by Mr. O’Neill of the Stillorgan Park hotel and were greatly appreciated by all. The team would like to thank Mr O’Neill, their parents and all the supporters. A great day was had by all!
